"Sutlers were civilian traders who followed the army around. They sold a wide variety of goods, including luxuries which were normally unavailable, but prices were universally high. Goods were available on credit with payment on pay-day. The sutler usually sold his wares from a large tent and remained in camp until ordered to the rear which signified the beginning of a campaign."
West Point Sutlers was formed in 1997. We are members of two major American Civil War re-enactment societies in the UK and as we are re-enactors ourselves, we believe we know exactly what re-enactors and living historians want from their hobby. Throughout the summer season we travel around the UK to major American Civil War and multi-period events.
West Point Sutlers are able to hire or sell 19th century period correct costume and props to Theatre, TV and film companies. Our credits include BAPTY & Co., Snaffles Victorian Workshop, Florida State University Film School, Eagle Media, English Heritage, Military History Workshop, 3DD Entertainment Ltd 'The Agatha Christie Code' ITV1, the BBCs 'Cutting It', The Royal Leamington Spa Pump Rooms, The Ulster American Folk Park and York Castle Museum.
Props include: Spectacles, cut throat razors, vestas, domino sets, pocket watches and other period items and haversack fillers.
We also hire goods to schools and museums. If you are looking for costume or props for a project, please contact us to discuss your requirements, you will find us approachable and willing to help you keep within your budget.

What West Point Sutlers can do for you
West Point manufactures American Civil War uniforms, Victorian and all 19th Century men’s, ladies and children’s clothing, headwear and underpinnings.
We work from reproduced patterns taken from authentic garments using carefully selected fabrics and materials. Delivery is usually within 6-8 weeks from the date the order is taken for normal orders. Special orders may take a little longer.
